Packing Hacks
Keeping your items accessible, safe, and together.

Fast Grab & Secure Items
Have a separate “Essentials Bag” for items that need to be quickly and easily accessible. (Phone chargers, medications, important documents, toiletries, etc.)
Purchase a small lockbox to secure all valuable items such as cash, jewelry credit cards, and anything with personal information

Fragile & Liquids
Pad the inside of boxes with T-shirts, sheets, or towels for fragile items
Wrap fragile items individually in bubble wrap or paper
Pack glassware by placing socks on the insides and in between glassware in the box
Use plastic bins to pack liquid items and cleaning supplies to avoid leaks and spills
Wrap plates in towels or t-shirts and pack them vertically in the boxes
Use oven mitts to separate fragile items from touching or moving around in the box

Sorting
Place heavy items in the bottom of the box and lighter items towards the top
Consider using towels and blankets to wrap items that are large and awkward
Keep any hardware separate in plastic baggies with a label and tape it to the item it belongs to
Tie electronic cords together and label them in Ziploc bags or use toilet paper tubes to keep them untangled and separated
Absorb shock and prevent breakage of mirrors by using tape on the mirror in an “X”
Jewelry hack: use egg cartons to pack and separate jewelry or toilet paper rolls to keep bracelets and necklaces from tangling.

Clothing
Use wardrobe boxes for all clothing on hangers
Group clothes together while hanging in the closet and place a trash bag over them. Poke the hangers through the top for a cheap garment bag. This will also keep your hanging clothes clean during the move.
Moving Day
Let's get you movin'.

If moving appliances, be sure all appliances are empty of contents and unplugged on the day of the move.

Separate any boxes or items that DO NOT go on the moving truck in a separate area

Secure pets outside, in kennels, or in cages so they are not loose while movers are present.

Take pictures of the back of electronics for reference of where wires go

Please do not use furniture polish; this will make the furniture slick and make the moving pads stick

If our movers are packing your items, leave all wall-hanging art, frames, and décor on the wall

Have a small toolbox ready to tackle modifications

Pack a cooler with drinks and snacks
